Three quotes of wisdom.
1. The Buddha said:
This existence of ours, is as volatile as autumnclouds
The birth and death of creatures seems to be the movements of a dance
Life is like a lightning in the sky
Roaring past, as a stream from a sheer mountain
The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying.
2. The Buddha said:
Know that all things are this way
A mirage, a castle in the sky
A dream, an appearance
Without essence, but with marks which are perceptible
Know that all things are this way
Like the moon on a clear sky
Mirrored in a clear lake
Although the moon never went to that lake
Know that all things are this way
As an echo which appears
From music, sounds and weeping
But in that echo isn't any melody
Know that all things are this way
Like a magician creates illusions
Of horses, oxen, barrows and other things
Nothing is as it seems
The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying.
3. One day the Buddha spoke to the monks, who were gathered at the Vulturemountain. He didn't start with a long lecture about the subject he wanted to talk about. Instead he only kept a little flower in the air, before the gathered crowd. Not a single word crossed his lips. No one understood his meaning, unless Mahalashyapa, who in his serenity just smiled to his master.
The Buddha.
